The SAILea Journal seeks papers that are related to the ever-evolving field of artificial intelligence. The level of technicality of a paper is not predefined. Papers can involve the building and training of an AI model or a study of the impacts of advancements in AI from an ethical or statistical lens, among other things.
SAILea requires that submitted papers have some degree of novelty. If you choose to study an observed phenomenon, go deeper than previous investigations. Considering The SAILea Journal's focus on engaging high school readers, the editorial board recognizes the unique needs of our amateur audience and acknowledges that the evaluation criteria for submitted papers may differ from those of established journals catering to seasoned professionals. That being said, the board still necessitates a high degree of accuracy, precision, and detail for a paper to be worthy of publication.
The publication process varies in time depending on the subject area of your paper, its length, the amount of revisions necessary to bring the paper up to journal standards, and your responsiveness throughout the revision process.
Generally speaking, you can expect this process to take 1-2 months.
SAILea papers must be formatted in APA format. All sources must be properly accredited and writing must be your own- no ChatGPT :)
Additionally, The Scholastic Artificial Intelligence League must be listed on the title page of your paper as the sponsoring institution.
Founded in 2021, SAILea is a MA registered nonprofit dedicated to furthering AI education globally. SAILea has upwards of 400 members across 16 US states and 4 continents, primarily from high school artificial intelligence clubs. SAILea offers AI and programming resources, courses, events, and a growing community of young people interested in AI.
The primary audience of the SAILea Journal is members of SAILea and visitors to the SAILea website. Papers are also featured in the SAILea Newsletter, a quarterly publication sent to SAILea members.
The target demographic for authors/researchers in the SAILea journal is those currently attending high school. The journal seeks to promote collaborative research projects within High School AI Clubs.
The SAILea journal will consider papers authored by undergraduate students as well. If your education extends beyond the undergraduate level, we suggest that you seek out another journal to target for publication.
Since the SAILea journal was recently established, the journal relies on the suggestions of the SAILea Journal Board of Editors rather than a peer-reviewing process. At times, the SAILea Journal may outsource the review of your paper to a leading professional if the board does not feel that the subject area of your paper falls within its realm of expertise.
The SAILea journal plans to pursue a peer-reviewing process once the journal is more established.
Please contact saileajournal@gmail.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
If you or your research group feel that you have a paper that is worthy of submission to the SAILea Journal Editorial Board, email the paper as a pdf to saileajournal@gmail.com.
A member of the editorial board will get back to you within 2 weeks to inform you of the next steps of the submission process. Likely, the board will suggest minor changes to your paper to uphold the standards of the journal.
